The Old Cane Basket...

The old cane basket just ain't what she used to be....

This poor old basket would have to be around 25 yrs plus she still looks OK no broken bits just a bit tired...

I used to take her to markets and would stuff my cash tin order books and all other bits and bobs into her she seemed to have a bottomless bottom it just went on and on...

Any way with the renovations in the lounge area she was looking a bit tired and boring and I thought about throwing her out but I cant I have had her for so long....

So while I was thinking about what to do I went on my Rust Oleum run where I was spraying everything and then it hit me....

spray the basket...

no ....don't want a white basket....

but hang on ...maybe just the lid...

So out came Satin Blossom White and my lid was covered in no time and looked great...

I put it back on the basket and while I liked it it didn't look right....

Boring....

I tried some lavender  and yeah OK I liked that ....

I tried some wooden hearts on but yuck I couldn't even see them.....

So...

Out came Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in Pure White..I dry brushed it onto the wooden hearts only on the tops and yeap now I like it....

Unsure of the material ties though but they will do till I go to Spotlight but for now she sits under my dinning window next to rocking chair...

The old cane basket ain't what she used to be.....SHE IS BETTER....

  1. Dee,
She looks lovely. I just painted my grandmothers old darning basket in Annie Sloan Paris Grey for my new bedroom. Tune in tomorrow for the reveal. Have a great week.
