I don't like casserole's or stews urkk ...makes me sick just thinking about them.I might not like them but I have to cook them for Kev as he loves them.'
Anyway one Winter dish that I do like is Shepard's Pie.I don't know if the one I make is proper or not but gee it tastes great....
All I do is...
Peel and boil some potatoes.strain and then mash put aside till needed....
Make some gravy up in a jug about 2 -3 cups worth....
Brown some mince with a couple of sliced onions.
Season with salt n pepper.
Chuck a stock cube into the meat mixture.
Pour a little tomato sauce in and a tablespoon of Vegemite's as well.
Te smell should be driving you crazy by now...
I use frozen mix vegetables and put about a cup and a bit of these into pan.My mix has carrots, peas and corn..
Next I pour my gravy into pan and mix everything through the gravy.
Place the gravy, vegetables and mince into a dish.
Get your mash and cover the meat mixture with it.
Sprinkle with some grated cheese-whatever you have on head will do.
Cook in medium heat oven till potato is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Sit back and enjoy with some crusty bread and enjoy...
There is nothing better on a cold winters night than to sit back and have a bowl of this.
Pure Comfort Food.
