Annie Sloans Chalk Paint on glass....

I have had these lights for a while now around ten years I think and somehow the painted border has gradually been coming off...

They don't get washed as often as they should but it shouldn't have gone like this.....

As we are doing up the house I was abit angry as I didn't want to have to buy more lights. There are 3 in total with this style in our dinning lounge and kitchen area so I knew it was going to be expensive to replace them all...

Anyway I got thinking then I thought what about Annie Sloan's chalk paint that should work...

So out she came the colour I had was pure white.

I used a small brush and put a good coat of paint onto the raised area....

When is had been on for about 30mins I got a soft cloth and wet it slightly then just wiped over the raised pattern till I got the desired effect....

Wow it worked beautifully. The lighting here makes it look a lot brighter than in actual life but they all look brand new again.

So I have found a new use for chalk paint and I have a very happy husband because I didn't have to go buy more lights

My beautiful new -old bed...

As part of our renovations/changing of our house the guest room is getting the full treatment....
After we paint it I have decided to I don't want timber floorboards any more in the bedroom so I am getting carpet in there.

Kev has just put a new ceiling fan in they gee I wish we could of had a nice chandelier  but a fan is more important....

The bed we had in this room was Kerry's old leather brownish black bed which apart from being very modern it is also a queen size. This is only a small room so I need a double bed in here...

While looking at eBay for a bed to buy so we could paint it I came across this beautiful bed it has a beautiful bed end as well but I forgot to take a photo of that ha ha ...

Anyway I kept thinking about it and thought go for it ....it is all painted ready to go .

The seller had heaps of photos of the bed so I didn't worry about going to look at it I just arranged for a courier to pick it up...

Wrong Big mistake.....

The paintwork had runs all through it and it was done in this terrible gloss paint and then Kevin said it wasn't attached properly to the bed head as well.]

So Kevin started to peel it .....and then peel it ...

It kept coming off in big pieces.. so then he got the sander out and started sanding my what I thought was a beautiful bed into a great big mess.....

I felt like crying when I saw this mess....

Look at the huge pieces of paint that just came off... one thing I can say is that after Kevin had finished sanding he did do a great job and the bed is now ready to be repainted....

So now my white bed is no more It is a lovely timber bed and it is sitting in the garage waiting for Jaxons Christening to be over so then the bathroom can be renovated and while that is being done we can start to paint the guest room then the carpet THEN Kevin said we will paint the bed head and base....

Don't forget he had to do all this to the base as well...

Some people would have been happy with the paint work.I didn't realise how fussy we were till this bed came along I mean I haven't painted as many pieces as this lady but heck mine are a lot better than hers.

Kev said maybe I shouldn't be so critical of what we do but that's not right I would rather spend a little extra time in getting something right than to sell it to some one and they have to redo the piece.

Like this seller has lost a buyer as I wont be buying anything from her again....

So when all the rest is done (it has to get done in order) I will happily post a photo of the finished bed.And if Kev has anything to do with it and he will it will be-

 BEAUTIFUL!!!!

A birdie Quickie....

I have had these wire birds for awhile and they were a rust colour and while I did like them they sort of blended into and you couldn't see themagainst the brown fence...

You have to look really hard to see them as like I said they have blended in really well. I love how the grasses make it look like they are standing in the reeds...

A close up of the birds before they got a coat of paint.....

So out came the Rust-oluem 2X paint and I sprayed them a lovely yellow...

Don't they look good all bright and smart looking .I love how they don't blend in anymore they make a statement....

No more blending into the back ground they now have just the right amount of colour to stand out but not take it away from the rest of the garden...

Spray paint you just gotta love it hey...

The best Sunday ever....

We had the best Sunday yesterday.....maybe the best Sunday ever....

Saturday I had a real crappy day my legs were swollen and I was sore and off all day it was a struggle just to do anything and then Kev was staining our new front door and repairing the door jams which I will stain during the week when I woke on Sunday morning I just said lets not hang around home lets go out for the day....

What about the door I thought you wanted it finished and hung up?............

Who cares come on lets just go somewhere.....

So we all got dressed chucked some snacks in a bag with drinks and away we went....

We did we go????

We went up to Katoomba to the Three Sisters....

We live at the bottom of the mountains which is about 40 mins or so from Katoomba and it is a really lovely road to drive on and check out all the scenery......

It was a beautiful day the weather was perfect and there wasn't heaps of people around like usual....

And of course we had to do the tourist thing and get our photo taken with The Sisters.....

There is an Aboriginal Legend that the three sisters were real and that there was a Bunyip in the mountains which would harm anyone who would cross him...

One day while out the sisters angered the bunyip and were standing on the ledge terrified when  their father who was a witchdoctor quickly turned the sisters into stone so they would be safe with his magic bone. The bunyip saw the father and gave chase to him -he quickly used his bone on himself and turned into a lyrebird but he dropped his bone....

Legend has it that the father still searches around the mountains looking for his magic bone so he could turn his daughters back to human form....

Well it is a lovely legend and the LM loved hearing this story...When he saw the sisters he said "oh no that one is the ugly one"  wrong story mate this is the 3 Sisters not Cinderella...ha ha

Kevin and the LM took a walk around to the sisters  and checked it all out a bit closer.....

We then drove over to the Scenic Railway...I was worried that I might not be able to climb into the train because of my legs but I thought heck forget it just try and if it doesn't work no problems but at least try ...

I did and guess what I got in no problem....

The ride down was amazing the LM was scared at first heck so was I but after a little while he kept asking Kev if they could go again on the train....

The train ride is the steepest in Australia. They have renovated it all up here since we last came and the train was all new and enclosed....

When we got to the bottom we decided to take the board walk and walk around to the cable car...The walk was a easy walk  the is level and they had seats and hand rails everywhere ...Kev said come on just take your time and we slowly walked around the rain forest checking it all out...

This is a replica of the original cable train that bush walkers and tourists would use to explore the rain forest...pretty basic compared to today's version....

LM wanted this one to work as well and was disappointed when we explained it was a model...

This beautiful statue was of a horse and cart and a miner and how they used to cart the coal to the buckets to be hauled up to the top....of course LM wanted to sit on the horse and insisted Da did as well.God Kev is good with LM he just put him on the horse and then climbed on behind him.....

No wonder LM thinks Kevin is his best friend....

Thank goodness we made it to the cable car my feet were really sore  by this time...So we climbed aboard for the steep ascend to the top...my goodness I cant say it enough the views were beautiful and I wish I had bought my new camera up to capture them instead these are all from my mobile and they arnt too bad...

SO next time you are looking for somewhere to go think about Katoomba it was a really great day and the three of us really enjoyed ourselves....

It just goes to show to check out your back yard first you never really know whats there so you can  really appricate it...
