A cute little bird...

Isn't this bird cute?  well I think so  .

She started out white and there was two of them. One had an accident and then there was one.
I didn't want the bird white any more so I sprayed her black.Yum she looks good but she was put in the cupboard for months and I forgot about her.

When I found her again she looked worse for wear and very unwanted, and I thought no I don't like it ant more  we have to have a change. So out came the apple green paint and she has had a face lift....

I sprayed her too heavy but a great thing happened to her.She "crackled" I couldn't have planed it better....

Don't you just love this crackled effect....
So my little unwanted white bird is now a very happy apple green and is looking great.

This was just the quickest little craft project I have done in awhile. It is amazing what a can of spray paint can do....

Now I have to work out where she is going to go I think on the back deck but at the moment she is in the kitchen.

School Holiday's are over YEAH!!!

Yeah !!! Whoop!!! Whoop!!! can you tell I am happy.

School is back and I am back to a normal routine....I miss the LM dearly but gee I am glad he is back at school...thing is though its nearly time for holidays again....

                                                            LM loves riding his bike.....

I am lucky because LM doesn't know  what the statement "I'm Bored" is ....I hate it when kids say that .LM is good that he can occupy himself or he loves company...he will lay on his bed and watch a DVD or be out riding his bike or mainly he loves bugging me...Dee can I have a biscuit? Dee can I have a chocolate...Dee I am hungry.... Truly he is always hungry except at tea time .....

He rode almost every day of the holidays.I enjoy watching him but God he goes too fast...

Any way I did enjoy these holidays with him....I have seen a different side to him,

A big buster on his arm but when he went to Soccer he was a star showing off his war wound..

He has grown so much and we have had some great conversations.I love how his little mind works. He is very keen on writing and is continually asking me how to spell this or how to spell that.I make sure I answer him as I want to keep up the keenness he has.Sometimes it is annoying if the truth be told but I guess that's part of growing up....He wants to be an author when he grows up...But then again he says he would like to be a policeman when he grows up maybe he will be a policeman who writes lots of tickets....

So in these holidays we did lots of this.....This is a "school bus" or that's what he calls it. He puts his toys around the house and goes around and collects them in the school  bus.Where he got this idea from is beyond me as he has never been on a bus.....toot toot as he does his bus route...funniest thing ever.

and lots and lots of this.....

Hanging out with his cousins Zeke and Trey and his favourite person at the moment "Auntie Pam"....all I hear is "can I ring Auntie Pam?" "can we go to Auntie Pam's?" "Auntie Pam does this and Auntie Pam does that"....Yep Auntie Pam is flavour of the month. She takes him to school each morning (I am so grateful for this) and he loves it he is always wondering what car is Auntie Pam coming in today Dee?...

The kids really loved this piece of play equipment.............

There was lots of pulling selling faces.Whats that old saying "lets hope the wind doesn't change"....ha ha

LM by far just loved playing on his trampoline......"look Dee see how high I can go" "dee come and get on here with me"OH Sorry mate I am too old....

Until he fell and hurt himself......

So I gave him the watering can to water the plants so he can feel better...It kept him busy for 10 minutes or so...

For the next school holidays I am going to miss the LM he is going to Queensland to stay with my mum and dad.He is so excited and cant stop talking about it.I know I will cry and I am going to miss that little voice calling "DEE where are you?" but gee I am going to have some fun just being me and Kevin for 2 weeks actually it will be for 16 days but who is counting....

Grateful book

A couple of weeks ago I was watching Sunrise on TV in the morning  and they had this Doctor on talking about A Gratitude Study that has been done in the USA.She said the results were amazing and that she has been practising the same theory over here with her patients with the same level of results...

Normally I would switch the channel  when this sort of segment comes on but something made me watch and listen.

She (the Physcaristist) get her patients  to every morning to write down three things they are grateful for ...This is what the study also did. In the end they found that patients with chronic pain suffered less pain  after doing this for 6 months and that her patients were having a better day and their depression was improving some patients even reporting that their depression was almost gone.

It said a lot more here as well but I didn't see the last part except that she said it is better to do this in the morning rather than the evening as it puts you in a good mood frame for the day when you did it.

Also she said it doesn't matter what you write whether it is large or small just write three things daily...

OK so I thought I would give it a try no harm in trying hey,I didn't tell anyone in case they tried to talk me out of it............Now when I write my thoughts  I just write anything that comes into my  mind....

An example of how it can be just simple thoughts are -I am grateful for spending good time this morning with the LM or I am grateful that I am going to see Kerry and Jaxon today.

I don't really know if it is working as it has only been about 2 months but gee on the days I forget to do it I tend to be in a bad mood where as when I do it I tend to just feel happy.Once I write my daily "gratitude" I don't dwell on what I say I just write it and get on with what I am doing .It appears to be working for me so I guess it is whatever floats your boat.......

I am going to keep doing this as I like it .You can buy special Grateful books but I just use a medium size note book for mine.I cant say whether the pain is less but definitely my moods are better....and hey what have I got to lose it dosnt cost anything to do or it dosnt hurt anyone so I think I will keep going with it for a while longer......

Jaxon Birth Announcement

Yesterday I was feeling crap (well that is how I feel everyday ha ha ) so I had to take it easy  so I thought I would make something that didn't require me to move around too much  so out came the computer to go through some ideas that I have that I want to make.

One idea that I really liked was a Birth Announcement from Full of great Ideas Blog written by Stephanie. I had saved this ages ago as I thought it was really good... .

On her blog she has designed this beautiful sign and even gave a link for you to try it for yourself...I tried to do it when I first saw and gave up as it was too hard ,but today I thought I would give it another try................so glad I did .

The sign is done in Microsoft Publisher -I haven't used this before so that in it self was a big learning curve. The little trains which I really loved didn't come out on the link.I tried to download the font they were done on but that wouldn't work either  I was having promblems with the whole thing I would write something then it would disappear ,I couldn't get the right size URGGGHHHH   so now I was getting fed up and was just about to throw it away(well I couldn't throw it away as I was doing it on my lap top and I don't think Kevin would like it if I throw that away) so actually I was just about to delete it all when I had a great idea.

Since I liked the train so much I just copied and pasted her sign and put it in Pic Monkey where I cropped just the train and then I inserted it into Publisher and guess what "IT WORKED"  yeah....

Then I took a big breath and did it bit by bit slowly doing it my way  and guess what this worked as well....

So after this I just got in and finished it all up and was quite proud of myself, then I gave  it to my lovely husband who resized it twice and printed it out, Yes twice because I couldn't decide what size I wanted and I still don't.

I have taken a picture of both sizes to show you and will give them both to Kerry and she can decide which one she likes as they are for her.

So do you like this one which is smaller and has a matt board around it ......

Or this one which fills the entire frame and has no matt board.....

I put them together here so it is easy to see....I think no I know I prefer the one with a matt board around it.The frame is 8 x10 inches.....

So if you are looking for a gift to give for a new baby or for a Christening/Birthday gift why don't you give this a try.It only cost me $5 for the frame and we just  printed it out at home so really all you need to do is have an hour or so to sit down and fiddle around in Publisher to make this as if you follow the link above most of the hard work is done.

Just wanted to give you another look as you can tell I am quite happy with this...

Oh she also has the design done in pinks for a girl. So thanks Stephanie for doing this I am off now to make  a couple more for gifts.....

I am sharing at Wow Us Wednesdays

Oh and just a little update tonight I made two more boy signs and a girl sign all turned out stunning.....................
For one grandson  Luca I havn't framed it yet.............

I cant forget one for the LM can I ......

And here is my first girl one.The template had the colour black and two shades of pink I changed the black to a dusty purple colour and just love how it turned out. This one is for our little granddaughter.

Hope you give them a try and if you have any problems just email me so I can help. xxx

Vintage Cup and Saucer Candle.

I am slowly going through all my bits and pieces in the craft room and while going through a box I found these two cup and saucers.

One is an antique style set with little pink roses the other a small white set sorta like an espresso cup.

I bought them years ago to make pincushions out of them-never happened and they just got put away till now.

I didn't want to make pincushions with them and then I remembered seeing candles in cup and saucer sets and they looked great  So that is what these cuties are going to be....

I had soy wax here so I melted  a couple of cups of wax .

While the wax was melting I glued the cups to the saucer with some super glue and I also glued the wicks into place.

I had some paddle pop sticks that Kevin had drilled a hole into the middle of the stick  I threaded the wick through this to keep it upright till the wax sets....

Then I used a oil fragrance called Coconut and Lime beautiful smell not too strong and overpowering.....I couldn't remember how much to use so I put a heaps couple of drops in it smelt divine...

Then I poured the wax into my pouring jug waited about 15mins to cool down abit and then carefully poured the melted wax into the cup.

I also had a few other containers that I wicked up so I wouldn't waste the wax.

I let them set for about 5 hours then took the paddle pop stick off and trimmed the wick.

And now I have a beautiful smelling candle to give as a gift....(or maybe I should just keep it )

I gave this pretty blue one to Mel who said she is candle obsessed...

Today I am sharing at Wow us Wednesdays
