Warragamba Dam

When mum was down for a visit we decided to go to a market but when we got there it had been cancelled so we headed home disappointed....

Then I had a thought why don't we go to Warragamba dam it was on our way home and I hadn't been there for over 30 years Kevin said it was about the same for him..

So off to the dam we went...

I was surprised at how much it had changed-yes I know it had been 30nyears but still it was so different but on the other hand it was great...

What did surprise me was the Aidan enjoyed it ....he must be growing up cause we could explain things to him and he took it all in.

Here is Aidan standing in front of one of the values they used in the making of the dam...

Kev is standing on one of the viewing platforms  here...

Here is our beautiful dam...

Hard to believe that this dam supplies Sydney's water isn't it....

Years ago you could walk across the dam wall but now they have stopped that.Which is a shame but people were throwing things into the dam and I think safety issues were a problem too.

My two "dam' cute boys ha ha  yeah I think I'm funny...

A new addition was the visitors centre and this interactive table which you touched and moved and details of the dam appeared.

Aidan just like doing it fast and playing around on it ha ha ...

So if your in Sydney and want somewhere nice to go for a picnic head out to Warragamba Dam lots and lots of picnic areas with shelter and plenty of toilets and great car parking and its all FREE...

Happy BELATED birthday Aidan.

I cant believe I didn't post this like it is such an important event for us and like I said yesterday I use this blog as a family journal and get it printed each year so of course I needed this event....

For Aidan's 7th birthday he wanted a magic party....

So I found a magican and gee he was the best 24 kids sat transfixed for over an hour while he entertained them.

Best money ever spent....

We got a beautiful rabbit popping out of a hat cake which was another hit with everyone...

As part of the kids treat bags I got top hats and a wand for every child yes!!!! another success.

Our colour scheme was red black and yellow with playing cards all around..

I couldn't have wished for a better day Aidan loved it as did his friends and Jaxon thought it was pretty good as well.

We even had our grand daughter Shakira here for the party ....

The only thing missing was my mum as she couldn't come....

So sorry I am late and I mean very late with this post but yeah I finally did it....

Happy Belated 7th Birthday Aidan we love you xxx

Our Australia day

What with me being sick and feeling down  I just forgot all about  posting our pictures. As I also use my blog as a family journal I thought I better do it now....

Better late then never....

We went to friends for a Australia night BBQ....

Yes I made Kev wear an umbrella hat and Aidan had on a Aussie bucket hat....

A bit well OK a lot blurred but I wanted to show me headband...

My sweet Aussie boy.

Of course and Australia Day BBQ isn't complete without a Aussie pavlova....

And yes friends who make silly faces help complete the day...

Happy Belated Australia Day from all of us.....

Aidans room update

I at it again....

While I liked the way Aidan's room looked after we changed it to the "batman and yellow theme"
I just didn't love it....

It needed something to make it stand out...

Then i found it....

A quilt cover from Target ...

It had triangles of black grey and yellow and looked WOW when i put it on the bed...

A close up of the quilt and pillows...

You can never have too many pillows can you...

So now I am happy and LOVE his room.

Well for the time being anyway ha ha

Easter bunny meltdown

Mum was down last  week and she decided to buy Aidan a Easter Bunny as she knows just how much he loves chocolate....

But we had it in the car boot and forgot all about it  and when we got home here is how it looked...

But never fear Nana to the rescue....

The bunny was put into the fridge and when Aidan came home he had a flat chocolate bunny and he was happy...

So how do you eat a flat melted chocolate bunny....

Well you open your mouth as wide as you can and shove it in ....

That's how...

Deer loving

Another one of my bright ideas....

I bought this stag clock from kmart as I really liked it....

Well I must have really liked it because it sat in my cupboard for six months as I couldn't find a place where it would look ok in it just didn't seem to work...

I was on the verge of throwing it when I happened to see some stag clocks on Instagram which had been changed...

Yeah I loved this...

I took the clock mechanism out and will use that for something else later

So I got some white silk hydrenas and stuck them on...

And now I was happy ....

Before and after.....which do you like best...

OH  I ended up taking that leaf out of the middle of the flowers it was driving me crazy....

Kitten bling

I so wish you could see this better but the photos just don't do it justice.

I bought these little shirt's in Kmart for $3 each to give to some special little girls..

I really liked the shirts but they needed something .....

SO out came the fabric glue and my bling and I started glueing away....

In the end I ended up with two really pretty shirts that I was very happy with ...

SO what I am saying if you see something you like but think it needs something just take a chance and have a go at changing it ....

PS I sent one of the shirts to the gorgeous Lilly and her mother Talia was very happy with it ...

Today I am sharing atWow its Wednesdays

Fruit loving

Aidan eats fruit but sometimes it is a real big hassle to get him to eat it....

So I saw on Pinterest some fruit ideas that I thought I would try out and see how it would go ...

I used cookie cutters ,paddle pop sticks and skewers..

The best part was Aidan helped me out which I think made him want to eat it as well..

These are our favorites just a cut out shape and grapes threaded onto skewers they are a real crowd pleaser....

These are suppose to be worms Aidan said .the eyes were melted chocolate...

So we cut and threaded fruit onto skewers and did it again. We had friends come over for a BBQ and the kids loved it and their mothers were going to try this as well....

Aidan has since asked me for different fruit shapes for school. One day he wants stars the next hearts.

I don't mind at least he is eating more fruit...

I think they are stunning I hate sending letters to friends and it has a horrible picture on the stamp so I bought heaps from my post office plus I ordered some more.

Only problem is I cant bring myself to use them as they are so nice.....
