I had bought some red and white and taupe wool to make a cheveron blanket for the LM but URGHHH I didn't even start it I just read the pattern and gave up .
So the wool has gone to my mums for her to make for LM. It will be better than what I can do anyway...
I saw this rug on Hopscotch Lane here .
I had to get it from Raverly shop and it was an instant pdf download..
The pattern is called Anya and it is by Lisa Gutierrez. She designs the most gorgeous doily rugs and I cant wait to make more..
It was made in Worsted weight which I thought was about 12ply...so I started it...
WRONG....looked crap...
Went to the best Wool shop ever The Wool Inn in Penrith here and she told me it was a 10ply so I bought 8 balls of the lovely Sugar n Cream in a Ercu colour she advised to use a number 6 hook but as I am a bit loose at crotchet she suggested I use a 5.5 hook and went on my merry way....
I worked my way through 5 rows and it just didn't look right.....I am a IDIOT after reading the pattern over and over again I found my mistake ...I knew it was an American pattern and I knew the stiches were different to ours example a DC there is a TR treble here and a SC there is a DC double crotchet here.. I had muddled up my stitches...
So to start again.....
So now I am on a roll till this row ...YUCK I have never done this sort of stich before but the rest of the pattern (well after my hiccup) has gone smoothly so fingers crossed which is hard while you are crotccheing...
And guess what I did it no problem ...some sort of leaning treble stitch it is called.hard at first then you don't even notice what you are doing...
IT'S FINISHED AND I LOVE IT.....
I wish I had given this to my mum to make as she is a wonderful crotcher and her stitches are lovely and tight but then again I am enjoyed making it,It makes up so fast I think that if you tried you would have it made in a weekend,I just did a row or two here and a row there...,it took me almost 3 weeks to do ...
The LM and I measured the rug and it is 50 inches from side to side. This photo was taken on my queen size bed and it fits across the bed...
I used all my 8 balls in fact I had to get one more ball to finish the blanket off I had done around 3/4 of the last row and ran out.The wonderfull lady (Anita) from The Wool Inn ended up dropping 1 ball to my home for me when I rang to see if they do mail service.Yes they do but she said she would dropp it off as she was visiting this way.
That's why I said this shop is the best yeah you can go to Spotlight etc for wool but the service here is supberb and they have the knowledge to back it up and they are friendly and so so helpful. No they didn't pay me to say that it is all my own opinion....
So that's it for my beautiful blanket.I now have some white Sugar n cream to make a baby blanket in except I wont be doing it this big but I am sure it will look beautiful....
It looks wonderfull. The wool shop in Penrith is the best they are always so helpful even with mail order.

This is beautiful, Dee! I've always admired those who knit and/or crochet; making such beautiful things from a skein of wool. It's great that you have a shop that is so helpful, too.
ReplyDeleteThat is stunning -you have done an AMAZNG job!!
